TUTORIAL - TRAY MAKING

PREPARATION

*Getting Ready

Step 1: Use the Guillotine to cut the metal sheet to the right dimension, which is pretty much the size you want it to be the tray.

*Making Template

Step 2 : Grab a wood piece, and make sure it is strong and thick enough that won't get smashed apart that easily. And then use a ruler to mark the dimension right, which should be slightly smaller than the metal piece we just cut. After that, use anything with a round shape, and mark it on the edges.

Step 3 : Put the marked wood piece on a bandsaw, carefully cut along the edges.

Step 4 : Use a sander to smooth the edges of the wood piece, also it helped to get the right and equal angles for all 4 edges.

After this, the template is pretty much done here, get all the tools that needed, then we can move on to the next part.

MAKING

Step 5: Adjust the size of the metal piece again according to the size of the template (about one centimeter smaller than the template around the edges),  then cut the edge along the template.

Step 6: Start by clamping the metal sheet with the wood template in the middle together, and use the hammer gently tap the edges of the metal sheet, start from the middle, leave the curved edges for after.

Step 7: Shaping the curved edges can be very challenging, they has to be tapped a lot lighter comparing to bowl making. However, it still faces the risk of getting folded a bit you trying to smooth it the corner. Just use the hammer and hit it gently back out on the opposite side, it can gradually get unfolded.

When you feel it is time, just remove the template from the tray, just be careful you might bent it a bit, just use the hammer again to slightly refine it.
use the sandpaper or file to smooth the edges, and cut the uneven edges by pruners.
