TRAY
PREPARATION
It started by cutting a large aluminium piece, to a square shape but with curved edges. Pruners and sheet cutter has been used. After giving the base sheet done, I started with making a wood mold for both me and my partner. But be careful the thickness of the wood piece, because our one was too thin, or I would say too fit with the edges of our tray. It got me a lot of troubles to get the mold out after.
SMASHING
Basically, I just put the wood mold right in the middle of the aluminium sheet, and clamped it on the side of the table. Then used the hammer to shape it. Started it with the 4 sides, then the curved edges.
Shaping the curved edges can be very challenging, they has to be tapped a lot lighter comparing to bowl making, if you want the curves with a very smooth surface. After the shape has been done mostly, I used the sandpaper and files to refine it, and cut the uneven edges by pruners.
POLISHING
Again, i used the Brasso Metal polish to get this done.Firstly, you will need to put the liquid on a cloth and wipe it all around the bowl, and after, use another clean piece of cloth to wipe it out.
TESTING
The 2 trays are perfectly fit with each other.
USING
Well you can put cigarettes in it too!
